This 7th hole is a tribute to the 5th hole at Alisa Course at Turnberry, a 36-hole championship complex on the southern tip of Scotland. The course was the site of one of the most epic duels in Open Championship history when Tom Watson held off a charging Jack Nicklaus over the final two rounds of the 1977 Open in what amounted to 36 holes of match play.
The 7th hole, 466 yards from the back or medal markers, is a long and stern test with mounds and other native grass all along the left side. The green is narrow and steep with pot bunkers on the left and right. The course was used as a Royal Naval Air Station during World War II, but was completely renovated by architect MacKenzie Ross after the war.
